Red Mountain Golf Club is located in central Phuket; the land for the course is a repurposed tin mine. With the natural hills and the hollowed-out land from the mine, the course is an extreme version of golf — making you wonder, “How did they build this golf course?” The course begins with a narrow first hole, with no room to miss on your opening tee shot. The landing zones for the tee shots on subsequent holes are slightly wider, but a good day of ball-striking is required to have any chance of a good score. In addition to the difficult tee shots (from any tee box), the green complexes are challenging. There are no flat greens on any hole; the greens have multiple sections with ridges separating the sections. The green speeds are around 10 on the stimpmeter (medium), which amplified the difficulty of the greens. The green surrounds are cut to fairway…
